The Bright Three Days!

More than a 1000 new buds were seen blossomed on the ever-fertile Wisdom Tree during “The Bright Three Days”. Even though raw and innocent they are ready and enthusiastic to bloom with knowledge and responsibility eventually becoming another seed carrying the character and personality laid powerfully and permanently within them. It is with the help of these traits that they will successfully undergo the highly challenging journey ahead before finally giving birth to another Wisdom Tree themselves.

The Bright Three Days here is a metaphor used for the three days of admissions, the same way as new buds for the freshers.

Stating back the old proverb, “Anything that starts well ends well”, the admission was made so smooth that the parents were assured about the good college life of their wards.

Starting from the entrance to the exit point, the parents didn’t feel any kind of discomfort at any point of the process. Many stations were put up at different locations to help guide the new-comers.

It officially started with a volunteers meeting on 22-07-2010 (Thursday). During the meeting, the volunteers were briefed by the Deans about the working of the whole setup. Strict but kind instructions were given that the parents should be made completely satisfied with the admissions.

On the first day (23-07-2010), the process started at 02 00 PM. Since it was during a weekday, only the students from locations in and around Coimbatore were called. It was easy for them to go home and come back for the orientation. More than 250 students were admitted during the half day session.

The second day was a full day session. Students from all around Tamil Nadu except Chennai were called. There were four different sessions. Thanks to the preparedness of SU, all the sessions were started 10 minutes even before the allotted time. Around 1200 students were admitted.

The third day commenced with students from Chennai pouring into the college. The day had just two sessions. All the admissions were completed way ahead of the target time. The admission of the MQ also was done subsequently.

Punctuality was the motivating word during all the three days. The reasons for the success were the fail-proof system, involvement of the management and the involvement of the student volunteers.

Coming to the flow of en-masse, as soon as the parents and student entered the college gate, a help desk was waiting for them in front of the D block conference hall. The SU made sure that at least two smiling and approachable faces were always available there to clear any queries of the arriving population.

Then they were guided to the superfluous number of chairs arranged at the quadrangle. As the time of the sessions came near every student along with one parent were guided to the token place on the first floor of A Block. After the duo collected the token, they were escorted into A209.

At A209, individual attention was given by the volunteers. Four bunches of certificates and attested copies were arranged into a file with the help from the volunteers. Xerox facility was made available during all the three days. Attestations were carried out easily because of the courtesy of the ANOs from NCC.

Then, the duo was guided to A 207. The token given was collected from them and they were made to sit according to first come first served basis. The verification team cross checked the authenticity of the certificates. The students, in a batch of 10 were guided to the Principals office while the parent was made to wait at the accounts section.

Principal patiently sat through the tiresome three days and talked to each and every student individually.

In the accounts section, the parents were given a feedback form to fill. Though many of the replies were good or fair, some went out of their way in creating a whole new option called extraordinary.

On the last day of admissions, an orientation program was held at quadrangle. During the orientation, The chief executive officer, Mr. Swaminathan, Principal Dr. R Rudramoorthy, Dean(Academic ) J.V.Ramaswamy,Dean(Student Affairs) Dr.R.Arumuganathan,Dean (Autonomous functioning) Dr.Mohanram,Dean(Placements) Dr.Nadarajan,The wardens Dr.Elangovan and Mrs.Anitha and Students Union chairman N.S.K.Umesh addressed the gathering.

“The Bright Three Days” ended with a promise of successful future of the students by the management and the SU.
